الملخص
يسعى هذا البحث إلى تسليط الضوء على الصور الذهنية والقوالب النمطية الجامدة، التي انطبعت في الأذهان؛ لما لها من تأثير على طبيعة العلاقة بين (الأنا العربية ) و(الآخر الغربي) .
وفيما يخص منهجية البحث، فقد استند البحث على المذهب الثقافي لـ (إدوارد سعيد) بشکل عام، وعلى رؤيته لتمثيل المُخْتلف بشکل خاص، والتي  تلخصت في أن الدراسات الاستشراقية منحت لنفسها الحق في تمثيل الأنا، ووضعتها في قوالب جامدة، تأبى التغيير، مما أثّر على العلاقة بين (الأنا العربية) و(الآخر الغربي).
وقد اختار البحث رواية (أن تبقى) للکاتبة "خولة حمدي"، ولعل من أسباب اختيار تلک الرواية، أنها تعتبر من الروايات العربية التي طرحت تلک الإشکالية، وتعرضت للصور الذهنية، بل وحاولت الکشف عن زيفها أيضا، هذا إلى جانب تناولها لمجموعة من القضايا التي ارتبطت بتلک الإشکالية، والتي منها: الهجرة غير الشرعية والمشکلات التي يتعرض لها المُختلف سواء جغرافيا أو سياسيا أو دينيا أو ثقافيا، کما أظهرت محاولة (الأنا العربية) طمس هويتها؛ رغبة في الاندماج مع (الآخر الغربي) .
 
 Abstract
This research seeks to shed light on the mental images and the rigid stereotypes that impressed in the minds; Because of its impact on the nature of the relationship between the (Arab I) and the (Western Other).
With regard to the research methodology, the research was based on the cultural doctrine of (Edward Said) in general, and on his vision of representing the different in particular, which was summarized by the fact that Oriental studies granted itself the right to represent the ego, and placed it in rigid molds that refuse to change, which affected the The relationship between the (Arab I) and the (Western Other)
The research chose the novel (to remain) by the writer 'Khawla Hamdi', and perhaps one of the reasons for choosing that novel is that it is considered one of the Arab novels that presented this problem, and it was exposed to mental pictures, and even tried to reveal its falsehood as well, in addition to dealing with a number of issues that It has been linked to that problem, which includes: illegal immigration and the problems that the different are exposed to, whether geographically, politically, religiously or culturally, as shown by the (Arab ego) attempt to obliterate its identity; A desire to integrate with the (Western Other).
