ذکرتُ فيه کلَّ ما طالعتَهُ من أبياتٍ صدرت من شعراء معمّرين, وتضمَّنت کنايات عن التعمير ، وقد کشفت لنا هذه الدراسة الموجزة على أن الکناية باعتبارها أسلوبًا کلاميًّا من أساليب العرب, وباعتبارها فنًّا بيانيًّا من فنون البلاغة ؛لا تقلّ أهميةً عن بقية فنون البلاغة, وأنها لا ينقصها استيعاب المعاني الشعرية, فهي أسلوبٌ رشيقٌ مرن يتَّسق مع جميع الأفکار التي تخطر في ذهن الشاعر, وتتميز بما تضفيه على الکلام من إخفاءٍ للغرض تسمح به قوانين العربية, ما يستدعي تطلُّعَ وتشوُّفَ المتلقي ؛معرفة المعنى الکنائي المتواري خلفَ المعنى المباشر, ما يَخلقُ له نوعًا من الرياضة العقلية ذات الخلفية الأدبية, إذ إن بعض الکنايات يستلزم إجراؤها ووضعها في مکانها الصحيح ؛لياقةً أدبيةً عاليةً, ودربةً ودرايةً بالشعر وطرائق نظمه وإنشائه.
کما أن هذه الدراسة بيَّنتْ لنا أن معظم المعمّرين لم يعيشوا حياةً هانئةً ؛فلا زال صوت المعاناة يُسمع من أشعارهم, ويُبصر في الصور الشعرية التي رسمتها أخيلتهم على خلفيةِ واقعهم ؛وما آلت إليه حياتهم الطويلة.
