هذا البحث يتعلق بعلم يجمع بين الأصول والفروع الفقهية ، هو علم تخريج الفروع على الأصول ؛ الذي ينتقل بمسائل أصول الفقه وقواعده من الجانب النظري إلى الجانب العملي التطبيقي ، وهو ما تشتد إليه حاجة طالب العلم الشرعي في هذه الأزمنة المتأخرة؛ التي کثرت فيها النوازل والمستجدات مما يتطلب حکماً شرعياً لکل نازلة؛ إذ لا يخفى "أن الفروع إنما تبنى على الأصول، وأن من لا يفهم کيفية الاستنباط ولا يهتدي إلى وجه الارتباط بين أحکام الفروع، وأدلتها التي هي أصول الفقه، لا يتسع له المجال، ولا يمکنه التفريع عليها بحال؛ فإن المسائل الفرعية - على اتساعها وبعد غاياتها- لها أصول معلومة، وأوضاع منظومة، ومن لم يعرف أصولها لم يحط بها علما" ، وسيتناول هذا البحث علم تخريج الفروع على الأصول من حيث التعريف به، وتمييزه عن الأنواع الأخرى للتخريج، ونشأته، وأبرز المؤلفات فيه.
